Spring Break on a Spring Day

I love having my kids home, have I mentioned that?  Day 1 was Exploring the Parks.  Day 2 was Touring.  Matt took the day off and we headed up to the Church History Museum.  We met my mom there and they kids had a ball pretending they had to share the bunks on the ship replica.
Sydney abandoned the Mexican Dance in favor of driving a truck.
 Derek helped build Nephi's ship.
All of the boys loved the computer games.
They all helped Grandma build a Temple.  (It was knocked over pretty quick.)
We headed over to the Conference Center next.  Austin has been begging to see where they have "Ginger Conference,"  and is so bummed he can't attend a session until he is eight.  While we were touring the seating area, Zack asked me why there were numbers on the chairs.  I told him it was so people could find their seats.  The numbers and letters are printed on their tickets.  A few minutes later, Austin told me, very urgently, that he wanted to leave.  I asked why and he said he wanted to go before the guy who lives there (I assume our elderly tour guide?) got mad and made us leave because we didn't have tickets.  :)
The roof was a big hit.  Random tidbit:  Matt and I went on our third date to the newly constructed Conference Center to attend President Hinckley's 90th birthday celebration.  It was really cool.  We went with my sister and her now husband Brad, and then met my friend Amy and her now husband Colby for dinner after.  We all started dating around the same time and got married within a few months of each other.
Sydney tried to drink the fountain water.
We stood at one corner of the Conference Center and called my dad over in the Church Office Building and told him to look out his window.  He looked out and saw us waving our arms and jumping up and down.  He came and met us on the street corner for some quick grandkid hugs before he had to head off to a meeting.  My little bro James came too.  He was on his lunch break, he is working as a gardener on Temple Square for a few months.
We headed home to rest, after we found out our Pass of All Passes would not work at the Tracy Aviary except on Mondays.  After a little yard work and naps for the littles we headed out to the park and then to get ice cream.  We had a fun time hanging out as a family.  Today is cleaning up and resting and then we have a few more fun things planned for the rest of the week.  I can't wait for summer break!

I'm reading this just as my kids come home from school and my 5 year old is throwing a major fit about doing homework... I'm glad someone loves having their kids home. :)

So glad to see your blog! No wonder Austin kept talking about "going" to general conference! I finally figured out what he was talking about when he said there are trees and flowers on top of general conference. I loved the picture he drew of the conf ctr. Hope it made it home so you could see!
