Just Waiting

Here I am at 38 weeks!  Just trying to keep baby in two more full weeks.  My doctor thinks I am crazy not schedule an induction or at the very least have him do a membrane sweep in an attempt to have the baby before Matt leaves for Scout Camp.  I told him if she comes on her own, she comes, but I am not doing anything to encourage her yet.  I have never gotten this far without having an induction scheduled so it feels a little weird to have no idea when she will come after always having it planned before.  Matt and I both prefer to wait.  We are not worried about him making it for the birth, the hospital is only 40 minutes away from the Scout Camp, but we would both like to relax and spend time together with our new baby without the chaos of Scout Camp orchestration to coordinate.  We have plenty to keep us busy, I took the YW to Welfare Square today on a tour, tomorrow is my baby brother's HS graduation, my cousin's wedding is on Saturday, Matt will be building a shed in our backyard all weekend plus all the regular baseball and soccer games the boys have.  Not to mention my little brother David and his wife are due with a little girl any time now.  I feel really good except for the hard time sleeping.  I can tell things are progressing, but I have learned from past pregnancies that I can be at a 4 for several weeks before anything happens :)  The kids are pretty excited to meet their sister, and so am I!  We drove by the hospital the other day when I had an errand in Orem.  I pointed it out to Sydney and Austin and Austin said, "Mom!  You are going to have your the baby in a Scout place?"  "What!?" I asked.  I had no idea what he was talking about.  "They have a Scout flag mom!  It is a Scout place."  I look up to see a huge American flag in the hospital parking lot.  I had to explain that it was not a Scout flag, but the American flag and how the Scouts use it.  :0  Obviously we talk about scouts a lot over here.  Matt is the Scoutmaster, I am in cub scouts, Zack is a Webelo scout and Scouts frequently come over to get things passed off by Matt.  I loved that he associated the flag with Scouting.  :)  Here is to two more weeks!!  We can make it!

In Dreams

I know a lot of people have really crazy dreams when they are pregnant.  I have fairly vivid dreams when I am not pregnant and so pregnancy-induced dreams can be pretty trippy.  Here are my two most interesting during this pregnancy.

1.  This was about two weeks ago.  I was dreaming that I was just having a regular day when all of the sudden my water broke.  I called Matt at work and he came home and we headed to the hospital.  We went through the process of finding a babysitter for our other kids, calling family, etc.  (Traditionally, once my water breaks, the baby comes pretty fast.)  We were so excited.  We got to the hospital and they told me my water had not broken, I had peed my pants.  Bummer.

2.  This one happened about two months ago and is a little more disturbing than false labor.  I was at home and I was looking at my big, pregnant belly, watching the baby move around.  One of her little hands started to push against my skin and I could see the outline.  I put my hand up to her hand and all of the sudden, through my skin, she grabbed my finger!  I was so surprised I yelped.  I looked down and all of the sudden, she starts trying to push her way straight out of my stomach.  My stomach started stretching like bread dough, getting thinner and thinner as more of her body started to push outward.  There was no opening for her to come out, my skin just kept stretching and stretching.  I screamed for Matt to come help me.  Pretty soon her entire body was outside of mine, but still encased in my skin.  I was holding her in my arms with disgusting bread dough skin everywhere.  I could see her face and her features perfectly.  Matt tried to help me push her back in but she kept twisting her feet in a way that wouldn't allow us to push her back in all the way.  I was freaking out, at that point she was still a good 10 weeks away from her due date.  I woke up very disturbed.  It was so real.  Holy cow.

Luckily, I guess, I am not sleeping very well anymore so the dreams have been few and far between the last few weeks.  Ahhh....pregnancy is so strange sometimes.

Getting Ready for Baby

Just over 9 weeks left until we get to meet baby #5!  Even though we have plenty of girlie things, I couldn't resist buying a few new things for the baby.  The boys ask every day how much longer and love for me to tell them how big the baby is.  They are also very impressed with the size of my stomach.  :)  We are so excited!

Hurray!

Today was our big ultrasound day.  My doctor won't do the ultrasound until 21 weeks and I am closer to 22, but today was the first day we could get an appointment.  We took a family poll before and all the boys were unanimous in saying they wanted another sister, but thought it would be a brother.  I tried to cheer them up, saying we would have our own basketball team if it is a brother, but they think we have enough brothers at our house.

Well, they got their wish, because Sorensen baby #5 is a girl.  Sydney has not clue what is going on, but I am thrilled that she will have a sister.  Hurray!

Night Fright

I am a sound sleeper.  I would never wake up in the night for any reason unless I hear a crying child.  When I am pregnant, of course, my body demands that I wake up during the night.  And when I wake up, I am HUNGRY.  Like, so hungry I can not go back to sleep unless I eat something.  A few nights ago, Austin woke up with a bad dream.  I went up to help him settle back down.  As I made my way back downstairs, I realized I was STARVING.  I pass the kitchen on the way to my bedroom and I spied the Peanut Butter Bars I had made that day.  ( A few months ago I wrote about how picky I am about treats.  I normally loathe peanut butter treats, but I make an exception for homemade peanut butter bars.)  I grabbed one and gulped it down really fast.  The lights were all off and it was probably around 1am. I needed a drink of milk to wash it down so I opened the fridge.  The milk was way in the back on the top shelf.  I pulled a few things out, and set them on the counter in order to access the milk.  I pulled out the 1% first, not to drink, but because it was blocking the 2%.  I left the 1% in my hand as I reached in for the 2%.  I was just pulling the 2% out of the fridge when Matt came into the kitchen to see what was going on.  I had not exactly been quiet in my snack searching.  I had not heard him come in and all of the sudden he spoke.  It startled me so much that I screamed and about dropped two gallons of milk across the floor.  Luckily, the lids were on tight and I had a firm grip.  It took a little while for my heart to slow down, though.  Apparently I need to learn to to quietly search for snacks in the middle of the night.  Or at least close the bedroom door.
