Just a few more shots of the Grand Canyon as we drove away!
From the South Rim, we headed down to Flagstaff and then to Gilbert. Even though it was like 10:30, Myles and Mikel were out waiting in the yard to welcome us!! There was a joyful cousin reunion and everyone was WIRED! We brought the noise level of their home up like 500 notches. We had a great time visiting until way too late and then all went to bed. The excited boys had a really hard time settling down.
The next day was Sunday and we went to church with the Ellsworth family and had a delicious dinner. The kids played and played and played. Once everyone was asleep for the night, I never heard a peep, they were exhausted.
Monday we hung out and went on a little walking trail. Then Mikel and Matt's parents took all the kids to an awesome park in Mesa while Matt and I and Ellie went to Casa Grande to meet my cousin and his wife who live in Tuscon. We met up and had lunch and just visited for a bit. They just had a new baby, but we were there pre-baby and made a baby shower delivery from Kyle's mother. Super fun to hang out with them.
That night we went the Mesa Temple for FHE and saw the lights. They were amazing!
Tuesday we started off the morning by picking oranges, tangelos, mandarin, and grapefruit. It was something we had never done before and it was fun! We are still enjoying the oranges, but the grapefruit were gone in like two days. (Derek and Austin love it).
Later that afternoon, we went on a hike called Hieroglyphic trail. It was gorgeous. I know, I know, went to Arizona in the middle of winter, but I loved it.
Weds. was New Year's Eve. It was a super rainy, cold day, so we stayed in and played games and watched movies. We made some delicious food and stayed up until midnight.
We left the next morning started driving toward Las Vegas. I was surprised at how much snow I saw driving home. Just before we got to Vegas, we stopped at the Hoover Dam. So, we are kind of a nerdy family and like stuff like that, but we were shocked that it was full of tourists. We drove across the dam and walked across the lookout next to the freeway. It was pretty cool.
We spent the night in Las Vegas and Matt's parents watched the kids while we went to dinner. We headed out bright and early the next morning to get home. We were worn out and our house was FREEZING. It was such a fun trip and so great to spend time with Matt, Mikel, Myles and Olivia.
Thanks, Ellsworths for a great trip!!!
