Birthday palooza

Ahhh the two birthdays one day apart.  Fun times.  Zack's 12th birthday was on Friday, and Derek's 9th birthday was on Sunday.  The boys wanted to do family activities instead of parties, but they did invite a boatload...like 30...boys over to play capture the flag Friday afternoon.  They said it was "Epic."

Friday night we went out to dinner as family and then to see the movie Big Hero 6.  It was awesome.  Zack wanted to go to the movies for his activity, so I told him just he and Matt could go to the real theater or our whole family could go to the dollar theater.  He wisely chose the dollar theater.  He loved his gifts, especially the BYU jersey and the canvas and paints.

Saturday was our nephew's birthday and the day Derek got to choose the family activity.  After Zack's basketball game, we went to the Legacy Center for some swimming and then to Matt's parent's house after for a combined birthday party for all three boys.  There was yummy food and fun gifts for the boys.  Derek especially LOVES his new red hoodie.  (He wears his gray hoodie every.single.day.  I have to pry it off of him to wash it.  He likes the red one even more, I think.  My favorite gift that Zack was given was a box of family names that he can take to the Temple.

Sunday morning came too soon and now it is Derek's turn to shine.  He loved his new mountain bike and especially loved his camera.  He filled up his whole memory card (it is a big card!) before church.  After church, Zack was going to be ordained, so my parents and Matt's parents  came down to have dinner and be part of the ordination and then celebrate Derek's birthday.  It was a full weekend!  I love these boys so much and they bring so much joy to us daily.  Happy birthday boys!!

I didn't realize they're birthdays were so close together. My first two are 6 days apart and it makes for a busy but fun week. And my oldest is turning twelve soon too! We're excited too be able to go to the temple together, what a great gift idea to give family names!
