Ausitn is so ready and so excited for Kindergarten!! He woke up early this morning and came running down the stairs in the clothes he picked out. When I saw him, he threw his arms up in the air and started doing a little dance. In a high-pitched voice he squealed: I'm going to KINDERGARTEN!!!!!!
I made him go take a shower first. Doesn't he look like Opie Taylor from The Andy Griffith Show?
He had a breakfast of Scrambled Eggs and Toast with fresh raspberries from our garden in milk on the side. He was dying that his bus doesn't come til an hour after his older brothers leave for school. We took some pictures to kill time.
He was in a very silly mood.
He has waited his whole life (5 years) to ride the bus like his big brothers. As the bus pulled away, Austin's face was pressed against the glass with the biggest grin!!
I drove over to the school with the little girls in tow and waited for the bus so I could show him where to go. When the bus pulled up, I saw Austin, face still against the glass, still grinning. When he came over to me he said, "THAT was so FUN!!" He ran around and played for a few minutes until the bell rang and the teacher came out. He lined up with the class and he seriously could not stop grinning.
He waved until he turned the corner into his class room and I am so excited to hear about his first day. Many of the moms at the school were crying as they sent off their little kindergarten babies, but I was so excited for Austin, he is ready and thrilled to be growing up a little. Such a cutie.
**Edit: I forgot to mention that for family home evening last night I had everyone in the family give Austin advice for Kindergarten. It was so cute! Derek said the opening prayer and blessed Austin that he wouldn't get bullied. Here was everyone's advice:
Zack: ask questions, choose the right
Derek: just go up to people and say, I am Austin, do you want to play? and If a word looks too long, sound out all the letters individually and then squish them together.
Sydney: have fun at recess
Dad: I totally can't remember what Matt said, Ellie was fussing
Mom: Do your best and be a leader.
Off he goes!
