Goblin Valley 2013

Friday afternoon we headed down to Goblin Valley State Park.  Matt has been wanting to go there for a while.  It took him a while to convince me that I wanted to go 6 1/2 week before I had a baby.  He took his Scouts down there a few weeks ago and was so excited to take us all back.  It is a very weird, desolate place, but so cool.  My sister, Tara, and her family came, as well as my little brother Jamison.
The kids climbed all over everything.  Derek's jeans are toast.  The back pockets are almost ripped through.  :)
On Saturday morning we went on about a 3 mile hike through some slot canyons.  It was such a unique place and very fun.  And a little hot.
There was a lot of climbing.  Did I mention there was climbing?
Kate and Sydney are best buddies.
Looking out toward our campsite.  We were right up against those cliffs.  Which means, the kids climbed day and night.
Proof that I am getting ready to have a baby.  I got a lot of strange looks, especially through some of the more narrow slot canyons :).
Looking down on our campsite from the cliffs.  Our tent is the white and green one and my brother and Zack slept in the blue and gray one.  Tara and Brad's site was just to the left.  The very, very nice bathrooms are directly behind our site.  Hot water!  I don't think we have ever camped with such nice facilities.  Each site has a covered picnic area.  There are no trees and no shade anywhere.  The shade was much appreciated.
 Jumping.
 Jumping.
All those who climbed.  Sydney, Kate, Tara, newborn Lucy and I stayed on the ground.
The hoodoos are so weird but so cool.  All I could think when we were walking through them were quotes from the movie "Galaxy Quest."  ....What do you call this place again?  The surface of the sun?.....Could those be the miners?  Yeah...they are like three years old.....Miners, not minors, you idiot!.....Never give up....Never surrender....

This was the cliff directly behind our camp.  The kids spent hours and hours climbing up and sliding down.  Everyone had a great time and we came home exhausted.  This is definitely somewhere we could visit again. So long, Goblin Valley.

I think I"ve been here (A LONG time ago)... no matter, it looks like the PERFECT place for kids. My kids love climbing on rocks! These kind of trips are the best. Although, I'm not sure about so close to having a baby. :) You are an all-star for sure!!!
