How to dress a princess

Since (before), Sydney was born, I have been buying clothes on clearance for her to wear the following season.  She wore a size 12 month for almost 9 months because she is so tiny.  We have finally hit a point where she has no clothes stored up and has outgrown almost everything.  I have been on a hunt to get her winter-ready.  I mean, the poor girl didn't have any shoes but sandals (unless you count the boy's old shoes I made her wear camping.)

I have looked far and wide.  I am picky about what I like my little girl to wear.  I don't mind some more "grown-up" looking clothes, but I prefer my little girl to look like a little girl.  Every store I went into my eyes were blinded with sequins and neon and cheetah and zebra.  Not that those things are bad, not at all.  I see them and think they are darling on other kids.  But Sydney is my baby and I want to keep her looking like a baby as long as I can.

I was feeling like I would never find her any clothes that I liked and were within the budget I had set.  While my tough boys were I hiking on Labor Day, I was shopping with my mom.  We looked far and wide, all through the mall, Target, Old Navy, and a few more.  Anything I remotely like was more money than I was willing to spend.  I finally lucked out at Walmart.  That was my first breakthrough.  I found tunic and legging sets that only went up to size 24month.  Well, they still drown little Syd, so I was in luck!  A few days later I went to Ross in search of shoes and found some Sunday shoes for my little gal.  She really needed dresses.  All of her dresses barely cover her little bum.  I found her tennis shoes at Target and then a dress on clearance at Old Navy, as well as a couple long sleeve t-shirts.  I always like a few white t-shirts to go under her summer shirts to help extend their life a little bit.  Finally, I went to Kid to Kid.  I found a beautiful sweater, a pair of cords and dress that I love.  She still has some shirts that will go a bit longer with long sleeves under or a sweater and a pair jeans that still fit.  I feel like I scored!  I got her outfitted for Fall/Winter for under $50.00.  She still fits in her jacket and coat and boots from last year.  Here is her haul:

She thought the purple dress was especially pretty.  It has been so long since I have had to buy a whole new wardrobe for one of my kids.  The little boys are set because of Zack, so I only occasionally buy them something new.  I just get Zack something as he needs it and it never ends of being very much at once.  I was happy and Syd still looks like a sweet baby.  Win/win.

I am anti cheetah, zebra, flashy sequins, and leopard looking clothes. I too want my girls to look like little girls. Actually, I don't think I would want them to wear those things when they're older either. lol :)
