Some Things to Remember

1. When Sydney and I were still in the hospital, Matt called to tell me about this conversation he and Derek had:

"Dad, has Sydney been born yet?"
"Yes. You know that."
"No, has she been born?"
"Yes, you went and saw her at the hospital last night."
"Then did the shepherds come yet?"

2. Austin is a blanket boy. It is a little blue blanket my mom sent him from Uruguay when he was born. He sleeps with it every night, protects, doesn't want it to get dirty and is very, very attached. He used to have a binky, too, (he referred to the two together as binkyblanky) but we got rid of that a few months ago. Since he lost the binky, he has been extra attached to his blanket. Since Sydney came home, Austin has been very insistent that Sydney has lots of blankies and the blue blanket is his. Last night, Sydney and I were sitting on the couch and she started to cry. Austin ran over to her, looking concerned and then offered her his blanket. It works for him, so he assumed it would work for her too. Quite the sacrifice on his part. I thought it was adorable considering how indifferent he has been towards her.

3. Zack's face the first time I asked him to take out one of Sydney's dirty diapers. He was very concerned about possible contamination. Since then, I don't even have to ask, he just takes the diaper right to the garbage in the garage. He is so helpful. Last time I had a baby, Zack was only 4, now he is such a big help.

5. How much fun it is to cuddle a brand-new baby!
