We made a ginormous paper chain countdown until Grandma and Grandpa Peterson and Michael come home from Uruguay. It hangs on the light over our kitchen table. We also made a huge fort using the kitchen table and chairs and every blanket in the house. I promised the boys we could have FHE in it tonight...(although I am not sure where we are going to eat dinner...) but first I made them pick up all of the UNO, Phase Ten, Charade and Flash cards they had dumped all over the inside. It was a good lesson in sorting, although it took them a looooooong time. It was fun to be at home with all my boys with nowhere to go and nothing really to do. The three of them were playing so well together, it was so funny to listen in on their pretending. I learned a lot about being a better parent during Conference this past weekend. It was just what I needed to hear and very motivating.
I have been trying to find a good system for having a cleanish house and having plenty of time to play with my boys. I have certain things I do everyday, but there are things I need to do weekly, and I just tend to do them whenever, without a specific schedule. I saw a schedule the other day that I really liked and decided to try it. It is easy to remember because most of the chores start with the same letter as the day of the week you assign to them.
Monday: Menu/Market Day
Tuesday: Toilets/Tubs/Towels
Weds: Wash (Laundry)
Thursday: Dust
Friday: Floors
Saturday: Sheets
I thought it would be easy for the kids to remember too. For example: Saturday you bring me your sheets! I don't feel like a need a schedule most of the time, but with the baby coming and the chaos that will follow, I think I need a system that isn't overwhelming but that is easy to follow. I am trying it out this week. (Also on Mondays we try and do a quick pick up of the whole house after the weekend tornado hits. Does anyone else wake up Monday morning and have no idea how their house became a disaster? Maybe it is just me.)

Nope, you're not alone. I think it has to do with being home more and having more people home. Plus, Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest, right?
I am raising my hand way up high!
