One More About Derek

I have not felt like cooking all week. Cleaning, yes, cooking, no. Tonight I had decided to cook something yummy for dinner, but found we were missing a key ingredient. We were planning on heading to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point tonight, so I wanted to make something fast. I really, really, really, did not want to cook. I also really, really, didn't want to eat out. Everything sounds gross right now and if my family didn't need to eat, I would live on cold cereal for the week. So finally, I remembered that I had some things in my 72 hour kit that maybe I could make fast. I was hoping I had some Macaroni and Cheese in there, but I found two cans of Ravioli. I thought, oh, that will be easy. When I brought the cans into the kitchen, all my kids said, "What is that?" They have never eaten Spaghetti Os or Ravioli or anything like that. I love pasta, and it is so easy to make, that I never even buy those things. Well, I explained that it was pasta with meat and within minutes, the boys were sitting down to eat. (I was eating cereal. I should mention here, that it would be very nice if all my children would eat cereal for dinner, actually, at all, but Derek is the only one who will eat cold cereal. The other boys are oatmeal kind of guys.) After a few tentative bites, Austin and Zack ate most of their food. But they didn't ask for more. Derek, is another story. After one bite he yelled, "Blech. This is TERRIBLE!" Maybe I should go grocery shopping tomorrow. And maybe I should start cooking again, or least buy some things that are easy to make. I have a feeling my boys won't touch Ravioli again for a while. Or at least until their missions.
