On the drive home, we pulled over to check out a fresh spring and an older man backed into my van. Kailee and I and the kids were in it at the time (no worries, the boys didn't even wake up!) just waiting to follow everyone else back to the highway.
It did some damage, but mostly scared the living daylights out of us. Kailee and I were just talking when BAM!! I was shaking before I even got out of the car, just because it had scared me, and being a girl, trying not to cry. The car that hit us was a fancy Sequoia. It was huge. The driver hopped out, (okay, he didn't hop, he was around 80). Chad and John and Jen ran over to see what happened. Chad immediately started talking to the driver, and helping me get all his information. He was really nice and tried to keep making jokes and saying how it wasn't bad at all. His bumper only had a bit of scraped up paint.
(He also kept asking me to repeat everything I said, I was practically yelling my phone number to him, finally I just wrote it down myself.) He also asked me to send him to quote personally before I contacted his insurance.
The damage really didn't look too bad. I suggested to Matt that maybe the poor old man won't have the money for the repairs. Matt said, "Yeah right, if he is driving a Sequoia, he has the money."
So, today, I finally went and got the quote. All I have to say is YIKES!! I instant messaged Matt to tell him what it was and he asked if I called the owner yet. This is how our conversation went:
Matt: Great, thanks for getting those.
Did you call the driver?
me: no...not yet, I was kind of hoping I could talk you into doing that for me.
Matt: No problem.
me: Thank you. I would probably be all feeling sorry for him and his big Sequoia, saying something like, can you still afford your diabetes meds? How about I pay half?
Matt: Yeah, we don't want to do that.
Thank goodness for husbands who will do your dirty work.

I am in the same boat as you! What would I do without Justin to do the dirty work. Man...I'm glad we have husbands!
I am with you there!
...oh, and isn't that in the priesthood responsibility handbook somewhere??
Laurie! This is hilarious! My husband has to do the dirty work for me too.
That was so funny. I totally would have felt guilty telling him how high it was. Mike isn't much better. An old backed into my son and dammaged the car. Mike never called him. So we have a messed up bumper and side panel. What is it about little old men that makes us feel guilty!
