With every job that must be done, there is an element of fun, you find the fun and SNAP! The job's a game!

I love the movie Mary Poppins. I had not seen it for years and years. Last week, I rented it from the library for my boys. They had never seen it and they loved it. They watched it everyday for a week. Zack really wishes that he could snap his fingers and clean up his room. (Me too.) He also did a pretty good job imitating Bert in various parts of the show, but he does a great job doing the penguin dance.
Derek called it simply, Poppins. He was devastated when I took it back to the library today. Since I saw bits and pieces of it several times in the last week, I was having fun reliving my childhood through that movie. The nursery clean-up is still a favorite. And the chimney sweeps dancing on the rooftops. And that George and Winifred are seriously negligent parents. For example, when Bert the chimney sweep brings the children home and Mrs. Banks talks him in to babysitting so she can go to a meeting. Hello! Red flags!!! She has never met him before, what if he was a child molester or serial killer? You just think of these things once you become a parent.
One thing I had forgotten until I saw it again was that the old bankers are CREEPY. I had kind of forgotten that scene and once I saw it again, I remembered that the whole bank scene was weird and creepy. And then when Mr. Banks goes back at night to get fired, the ambiance in the room is just...creepy. The red walls and carpet....it is weird. I get the same weirded out feeling when I see that scene as I get when I see Gone With the Wind (which I haven't seen for at least ten years.) You know that part when Scarlett's mother dies and her body is just in this creepy, candlelit room. Same feeling of creepiness. Some things leave an impression. Anyway, just some thoughts. Did any one else find the bankers creepy? Or is it just me. It was so much fun to watch it with the boys though. They loved it.
