Wow, this last week has been crazy busy.
* My adorable little BYU freshman brother, Jamison, was hurt playing intermural football last Weds. night. He took a knee to the ribs and thought the wind was knocked out of him. He hobbled over to our brother Chris' apt. and fell asleep there. Early the next morning, like 2am, he awoke in agony and Chris took him to the emergency room. (Keep in mind, this is all on the poor kid's 18 bday). So when I got to the emergency room they said he had a lacerated spleen and he was bleeding internally, but that he could probably go home on Friday night, as long as everything was healing. Well, we spent the next couple of days taking turns entertaining him at the hospital. And between me, Matt, Chris and Tara and our cousin Eric, we were very entertaining in deed. I came on Friday to talk to the doctor about bringing him home and he was still in so so so much pain. A surgeon ordered another CAT scan and they found that a piece of his pancreas was detached and leaking enzymes into his stomach and attacking his other organs. Yikes. So they operated on Saturday morning and repaired his spleen and took out the messed up piece of his pancreas. He is recovering well, but he will still be hospitalized for a while because his entire digestive system is shut down right now so he can heal. It was pretty dramatic and poor guy has really been a trooper, despite the pain. Although he did get mad at us for cracking too many jokes becasue it hurts too bad to laugh. Thankfully, my mom was able to come up on Sunday and stay with him for a bit as he is healing. What a way to start your 18th year, huh?

Oh, poor Jamison!! That sounds horrible. How crazy that he had to go through all that for a dumb football game. I hope they won. :) When I had my ectopic pregnancy, I was bleeding internally and they said that was the source of most of my pain. I don't envy him that experience. It was the worst pain I've ever felt...no kidding. I hope he heals quickly.
Wowsers! That is dramatic- why couldn't he have cake and ice-cream and get a gold fish for his birthday like every other 18 year old. Instead he had to go all dramatic and detatch his pancreas!
I am glad your mom could be there to help him out- its probably painful and scary for everyone involved. Good luck Jamison!
Ounds like the highlight of the week was your mom coing to visit! I bet your brother was excited and relieved to see her. I hope he is feeling better.
