Lemon Glazed Scones and Turkey-less Turkey Sandwiches

I am hosting book club at my house tonight so I thought I would make something fun and different. My Family Fun magazine came yesterday and I saw a recipe for Glazed Lemon Scones. I thought oooo that sound yummy and fresh so I made some this morning. They were super easy and really good. As the last batch was baking, I made some turkey sandwiches for lunch. Derek is never far when food is about to be served, so he was waiting at the table before I even finished making lunch. He dug right in, but Zack was a little slower getting to the table. I ran upstairs to find someting while they ate and all of the sudden I hear, "Mom!!! There is NO TURKEY on my sandwich!" Now I disticntly remember making two sandwiches, both with turkey. I run back downstairs to see what he is talking about and I had a vague memory of Derek lurking around Zack's plate just before Zack got to the table. I also have a vague memory of hearing Derek say, "Yuuuummmm!" But I was too busy finishing the scones and talking on the phone to my mom to get what was going on. When I saw that Zack's sandwich was indeed turkey-less I asked Derek, "Derek did you eat Zack's turkey?" "No," says Derek, "Zack's ham." Whatever. :)

So how bout the recipe?? Derek sounds a lot like Claire, she goes around finishing off everyone's plates at parties, drinks everyone's soda, and even then wants more.

PS- what book are you guys reading?

I do what I can. The book was "Mr. Darcy's Diary" by Amanda Grange.

Ha ha ha, you've got a little protein thief on your hands. :) He's a man after my husband's heart (I'm not such a big meat fan). Those lemon scones sound divine. I'll have to try those out. Thanks for requesting the recipe Brooke! And thanks for sharing it with us, Laurie! :-)

So how was the book? Worth recommending?

If you are a Jane Austen fan you will probably like. The author did a really good job imitating Austen's style and telling the same story in Darcy's perspective. It was one of those nice, easy reads, nothing life-changing, but I would recommend it if only because it is a fun take on Pride and Pred.
