Sickness

Well, it has been going around, but sickness has hit the Sorensen house this week.  We have not had any sickness (except morning sickness) basically since school started.  Tuesday night, or I guess, early Wednesday morning, Sydney woke up and I went upstairs to get her settled back in bed.  She asked me to lay by her, and since I do not fit in the toddler bed, I held her on the recliner instead.  About ten minutes later she barfed all over us and continued to go off and on for the next few hours.  By morning she seemed fine and ate normally.  Last night Derek and Austin both complained of tummy aches.  Derek did throw up a bit, but not too much.  I kept him home from school today and he played a little bit in the morning, but this afternoon he has been miserable, with a headache, sore throat, ear aches and fever....and the nausea.  I am cleaning and doing laundry like crazy, hoping to contain it as much as possible, but seeing how that never really works, I am not sure I should bother.  We are laying low...drinking smoothies and watching movies.  Hopefully this passes quickly...but better now than on Christmas, right? I have decided that cleaning up puke, when you are trying desperately not to puke yourself, is really awful.  I am not sure if I am sick, this is still morning sickness or paranoia, the nausea is at an all time high this week.  Blech...

Zack just came home from school and checked on Derek.  He seemed very concerned that Derek is crying and moaning.  (Bless his little heart, but Derek can be quite dramatic).  If Derek is dramatic, Zack is a slight hypochondriac.  Whenever he is sick, he always pitifully asks, "Is it serious?"  Bumps and bruises, paper cuts and sunburn all receive serious attention from Zack.  As I began typing a minute ago, Zack calls up the stairs, "Mom, Derek doesn't sound good.  Do you think he could have rabies?  He has some of the symptoms."  What strange and adorable children I have.  I can't imagine where they get it from :)

I have a puker today too. It is so sad when they are so out of it. But pretty funny that Zack takes things so seriously. :)
