Tuesday Bloody Tuesday
So sad. We have been busy busy busy this past week with all kinds of fun (more on that later). So...the kids have not had decent naps or bedtimes for a while. Today I was determined to get back on our normal schedule. ( I am not sure why, we are leaving again tomorrow, but I needed one day of rest!) Besides, getting Derek to take a nap is exceedingly important if I want to get anything accomplished during the day. So today was a fairly typical day. After lunch I got Derek settled down for a nap. He wasn't asleep when Austin woke up crying. So I left to help him and promised Derek I would be back to finish his story (this was an empty promise. I was really hoping that Der would be asleep by the time I came back.) Austin wasn't feeling great so he took a while to calm down. Derek had been pretty noisy in his room and eventually started crying. I set a still fussing Austin down to go get Derek settled back down. I walk into his room and he immediately calms down. I see that he has taken off his clothes and put on Zack's army pjs. He also has a a horribly dirty diaper. Poor kid, I got him all changed and back to bed when Austin starts screaming. I wait a minute to see if he will calm down. No. So I leave Derek again who is saying, "Play, mom, please play!" I know if I let him out now, he will never go to bed, so I leave him in there once again (there is a child proof door knob on the inside of his door.) and go pick up Austin. Austin calms down in my arms and then I hear Derek start screaming bloody murder. I assume he is just trying to get my attention so I will let him out so I wait a minute to see if he is faking. It keeps getting worse so I decided to check on him. I open the door to find: Derek with blood pouring out his nose, all over his (Zack's) pjs, down his chest, on his forehead, cheeks, blood all over the door, and the carpet. He isn't concerned about the blood at all, he is pointing up in the closet saying, "blankie, blankie!" Apparently he wanted his pirate blanket that was on the top shelf of his closet. He climbed the shelves like a ladder but apparently fell, whacking his face as he fell (as evidenced from the blood on the shelves.) I left Austin screaming on Derek's bedroom floor while I took Der to the bathroom to clean him up. He would not cooperate, he just wanted the blankie. So I finally took him back to his room, wrapped him the blankie and held him. He was asleep in about 30 seconds, with dry blood all over his face. Ew. Poor kid. Does anyone have any good tips for getting blood out of carpet? I used some Resolve and it didn't seem to do the trick.

I am so sorry, blood is not something that I handle well. You guys sure sound busy. Can you imagine if you weren't though? Life would be so boring. When you get back from wherever you are going, we should try to get together, the beautiful weather is so inviting!
Bummer about the carpet, and Dereks nose. Remember the seen in "While You Were Sleeping" when they break the vase of blue water on white carpet? "I think the couch should go right there."
oh, so sad about Derek! That sounds kinda traumatic, for all involved!
I have used Oxiclean to get out a grapejuice stain on our carpet before and it worked, maybe it would work with blood!
Oh wow, Laurie. You must be Wonder Woman. Back and forth, back and forth. How did you ever survive?!
Poor little Derek. First a dirty diaper, then a bloody nose. At least it all wore him out. :)
All I know about getting blood out of things is to use cold water - the colder the better. Good luck!
I know that Hydrogen Paroxide gets blood out of cloths made it does the same for carpet.
