GRANDMA MEXICO!!!

Grandma Mexico, all six grandkids, my brother Dave, sister Tara and me.
The new additions.
Opening presents!

Wow, well we have had a very exciting week. Grandma Mexico (my mom) was able to come to Utah for a week! She and my dad are Mission President and Wife in Uruguay, along with my two youngest brothers. She had to come here for medical reasons (MRI-long story short, she had a brain tumor 5 1/2 years ago, fully recovered, but still needs an occasional check.) Anywho, the MRI determined she is just great. We had so much fun! Austin and his cousin Jace were born about two months after they left on their mission. So she was especially excited to meet them!

*Weds. I head to the airport to pick up Grandma Mexico (sidenote: she is called Grandma Mexico because when Zack was learning to talk she lived in Mexico City. We went to visit a few times and he would distinguish between his Grandma Sorensen who lives nearby and his Grandma who lives far away by tacking on the Mexico part. The name stuck.) Her plane was delayed and I chased the kids around the airport and amazingly saved a wheelchair from being stolen by Derek, who saw it and said, "Bike!!" When she walked toward us, Zack went running to her and gave her the hugest hug, it was great. Derek was a little more shy, (Derek, shy? Shocker, I know!) but still gave her a big hug. Austin had no idea what was going on but loved all the extra kisses and cuddles. The kids and I spent several nights at my sister's house and my grandparents house and Matt's parents' house, all in an effort to hang out more with Grandma Mexico. She played endless games with the kids, had sleepovers, took the kids to a movie, got their pictures taken as a surprise for Papa and all kinds of other things. We spent a lot of time driving back and forth, just so the kids could have a couple normal nights at home, but we did get to spend a lot of time with her! It was so much fun! We were so excited that we got to spend some time with her. Although we did miss the rest of the fam back in Uruguay! Thanks Mom for all the fun! We love you!!

How cute! Your mom looks great, Laurie. And you guys have such a cute family, grandkids and all! How fun that you got to spend so much time just hanging out. I can't wait for my turn with my family. Incidentally, I don't suppose you and Tara would want to get together while I'm in Utah? That would be awesome! Let me know.
