Wow, one year older. This last year has flown by! I can't believe I am 35, I still feel about 23. :) We had a busy, busy day/weekend. We took the kids to the Ogden Temple Open House on Friday. We didn't have tickets, but we hung out in the standby line for a while and eventually got in. Ellie was a little bit of a stinker in there. Every time she saw a water fountain, she started screaming for a drink. Right before the Celestial room, I spied a drinking fountain and let her drink to her heart's content to get her nice and hydrated before we entered. Nope. She screamed to whole time we were walking through the Celestial room. Longest 60 seconds EVER. We stopped for Chinese food at our favorite Ogden place and then headed to S. Weber.
After the Open House, we dropped the kids off at my parent's house and Matt and I headed off for a weekend away in Logan. We have never really spent any time in Logan and thought it would be a fun place to visit. Saturday morning we headed to the Logan Temple to do a session and it was neat to visit such an old, historic Temple. We had a delicious lunch at a Mexican place on Main street and then headed off to hike to the Wind Cave. Matt wanted to run up the mountain, but I refused. Okay, I ran for maybe 1 minute and thought I would die. It was a pretty hike.
We headed to the movies after the hike, it is probably good that the theater was pretty much empty, because I am sure we smelled bad. We went back to the hotel to clean up and then headed out to dinner. We stopped at the smallest mall I have ever seen to pick something up for my parents and then we watched Indiana Jones 4 in our hotel room. It was still as bizarre as the first time I saw it.
We went to Sacrament meeting in Logan and then headed back to my parent's ward to go to the third hour with them. My mom had gotten my sister's kids to sleep over on Saturday night and so she took NINE children with her to Sacrament meeting. I am pretty sure my dad was in meetings, and she did it on her own. Wowza. I am also pretty sure she bribed the kids to be good. I think it worked. I was dying to get my hands on Ellie, but she had fallen asleep with my Dad, so I had to wait. The third hour meeting of church was a combined meeting, it was a fantastic lesson on depression, by a church social worker. I snuck out a few minutes early so I could wait for the kids outside of primary. Ahh! Sweet reunion!!! Matt found Ellie and my dad first and she was awake. She went to Matt, but didn't look thrilled. But she did wrap both chubby arms around his neck and lay her head on his shoulder. They came around the corner and she saw me and I held out my arms to her. She came to me, but she showed no emotion on her face. Maybe she was mad I left her? By the time I had been with her about thirty minutes, she was back to her normal self. And today she has just kissed me and kissed. I love it.
We all came home yesterday and unpacked and hung out as a family. This morning, Matt and Zack headed out bright and early to buy me some breakfast donuts and chocolate milk. We had a busy day, we decided to can a batch of salsa since Matt was home to help. We got all of the kids helping too. We (I mean Matt and the kids,)worked in the yard and cleaned up the salsa mess and bought Zack a mountain bike from a student in Provo who needed money to buy books, :) and went to dinner and went swimming and had presents and cake. Busy day. The kids are all in bed and I am deciding if I want to read my new book (preferably in the bath tub), or watch one of the 6, yes 6 new chick flicks Matt gave me for my birthday. He realized that there is a SERIOUS lack of girl movies in the house beside Disney movies. One gift was a new blender and it is still en route to our house, but he wrapped up a picture of the blender with the movie Father of the Bride (you know the scene where Brian gives her the blender for an engagement present and she calls off the wedding. :) Fun day. We are all worn out from too much fun. Time to get back in the thick of things tomorrow. Soccer, school, scouts, soccer practice, groceries, (we need food!) homework, etc., all the things every one does. But it was fun to have a little break for a few days.
