Okay, okay, I know I am biased, but not only is she darling, Ellie is a FUN baby. She is gets a huge kick out of her siblings and adores her parents. She is a happy girl and we all just eat her up. About 30 minutes ago, I put Ellie in her crib for a nap. (The crib is in Sydney's room and Ellie only sleeps there for naps. At night she sleeps in the pack and play in my room.) She usually babbles to herself for a few minutes and then drifts off. She had been in there a few minutes when I hear shrieking. I head upstairs thinking that she couldn't find her binky and was very tired. I walk in the room and see that she is on her stomach and one of her little chunky legs is wedged in between the bars up to her thigh and hanging out the side of the crib?!?!? I have never had a child do that before. Our crib bars are not wide. Anyway, I picked up my shrieking baby and cuddled her and rocked her while she calmed down. I have no clue how she even did that.
Also, Ellie is seven months! She does not crawl, but she does get up on all fours and rock back and forth. She crawls backwards and scoots around on her back, head first. It is really funny. This morning, I was up at the crack of dawn...thanks to my Ellie alarm clock that wouldn't go back to sleep. So 5:15am found me googling: babies crawling backwards and I found a parenting site that said it is totally normal and it happens because babies arms are usually stronger than their legs and blah..blah..blah. I noticed a comment to the article that said:
"I was a baby who crawled backwards and now I walk backwards, and drive to work backwards. I start at the end and read them to the beginning. Don't make the same mistake with your child!!!"
I laughed and laughed. I am glad there are people with a sense of humor to remind us all to calm down. :)
