Derek turned five this week! He was so excited for Zack's birthday because he knew his own would be two days later! He really was a great sport while Zack got to have a huge party and he didn't. What a champ. He knows he will get a huge party when he turns eight. That being said, we tried to make Derek's b-day extra fun since Zack has gotten all kinds of special attention this year (and the baptism hasn't even happened yet!) He woke up and I reminded him it was his birthday and he said, "I
know, mom!" He opened two presents before breakfast, some Scooby Doo toys and a box of Fruit Loops, which he calls Bird Cereal. He was stoked. During the day we played games and read books and then went to Cafe Rio (Derek's favorite) and he, Austin and I all shared a pork salad. That evening, Derek requested Chili for dinner and then we opened more gifts. He was thrilled to get a scooter and a few other small things. He loved his ginormous puzzle from Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen and he loved his Book of Mormon action figures from Grandma and Grandpa Peterson. After dinner, we headed over to a local place, Trafalga and went mini-golfing and played in their huge jungle gym. He loved it. On the way home we picked up some chocolate donuts in lieu of cake and life couldn't have been better. Derek is smart, funny, snuggly, protective of his siblings, helpful and has an amazing sense of direction. Really, he does. He loves to build things, loves to work in the garden, help his dad with any project and cook with me. He is such a wonderful boy and we love him so much!!!

He is such a handsome little boy. Happy Birthday, Derek!
Why do they have to grow up so fast? Dallin just turned 7. And Noah can't wait to turn 5.
Btw, we love South Weber. I just respond to your comment.
