Aww Crud

So this has been an insanely busy summer. We have been trying to cram in all kinds of things. We are exhausted, but have had a great time.
My brother David is getting married in the morning (cue the music). I had a lot to do today, including ironing two sets of dress clothes for everyone in our family....you know, because we are having family pictures taken at the reception and we are supposed to match and I am certain that if we don't change clothes, at least one person will have Wedding Luncheon remains all over their tie or pants., and also packing the boys to head off on a camping trip the morning after the wedding.
Well, I decided to blow that all off today and head up to This is the Place Heritage Park because I have been wanting to go their all summer and on Wednesdays it is $2/person. I met my sister, my cousin and Matt's mom and sisters up there. It was really fun and the kids loved it.
When we got home I began ironing up a storm and decided I should iron all my brother's newly washed clothes to take on his honeymoon and then I decided I should probably iron his temple clothing as well. I was maybe an eighth of the way through the pile when the phone rang and it was brother who had locked his keys in his trunk. I found his spare key, loaded the kids up in the car, drove through rush hour to Matt's work (usually only about 15 minutes away...today 30) and gave Matt the key.
Matt was on his way to meet David and my dad and the rest of the adult boys in the family for a little dinner/fake bachelor party which really means they go to dinner then my dad gives my brother a blessing. So I headed home and made dinner, then decided to make cookies, the boys were thrilled, especially since I let them help. Then while avoiding the ironing and the dishes I was talking to my sis about what we were going to be wearing tomorrow (I know, our depth of thought is astounding) when I remembered that my Temple Recommend is MIA. I searched every purse, my Temple bag, my car. No go. I finally called Matt in a panic and had his look in his wallet. Nope. At last I found it in a coin purse that I never use. ???? I have no idea how or why. Anywho.
So, Matt is gone, I decide it is time to bathe Sydney. She is starving and tired and so I get her cleaned up and tell all the boys to hop in the shower. Zack heads upstairs to shower, I turn on the shower for Derek and Austin in my bathroom. Austin refuses to get in so I run about two inches of water for him. I can see both the shower and the tub from my bed, so I hop on my bed to feed a starving baby. We are about one minute into the feeding when Derek starts screaming that he has soap in his eyes and Austin starts screaming that he is stinky. The screaming intensifies rapidly so I detach poor screaming Sydney and run into the bathroom and find Derek with the shower door open and a face full of soap and Austin screaming in a tub full of poop. Okay, not full of poop, but seriously, ew. I clean Derek's face, pull Austin out of the tub, stick him in the shower, clean out the tub, scrub down both children, dry them off and tell them to sit in the bathroom in their towels so I can finish feeding the baby. (I sanitized first, no worries.) Pretty soon I notice that two naked little boys have taken off for who knows where. I finish with Sydney, put her in bed and head out to round the boys. Whew. Isn't it time for Matt to come home yet? Just kidding, I thought the whole thing was pretty hilarious and it was one of those great mom moments I didn't want to forget. Good times. I love my life. I am saying that in all seriousness. Being a mom is really the most wonderful, entertaining and challenging thing and I love it.

Ha ha ha. Now you know what it means to be a mom of four. Lets all cry at once, and atleast two of us must be naked and MIA. With poop in the tub.
