There have been no new blog posts as of late because, well, we are boring. We are just waiting (impatiently) for baby Sorensen to arrive. Technically, we have about two weeks left until my due date. I would really appreciate if she would decide to come now. I don't really know what to expect since both Zack and Austin were induced a week early, and the day Derek was scheduled to be induced, he came on his own (5 days early, although I didn't know I was in labor. I showed up at the hospital to be induced and they informed me that there was no need). I am not planning on being induced this time and so I am curious and a little nervous about going into labor on my own.
For now, the plan is to name her Sydney Kay Sorensen. Although I have been known to change the name after I see the baby. (Austin was supposed to be named Ty, in fact, the first photos Matt emailed to family said his name was Ty, but before we left the hospital I had changed my mind. He DID NOT LOOK LIKE A TY. I had a picture in my head of how he would look, mostly based off how Zack and Derek looked at birth. I had two brown-eyed olive-y skinned babies and I was sure Austin would look the same. He was blond and white and blue-eyed and the name Ty did not fit him once I saw him.
Back to the name Sydney. Sydney is a tribute to Australia, where Matt served his mission, and Kay is a tribute to my Peterson side of the family. My grandma P.'s maiden name was Kimber and she gave my dad the middle initial of "K" in honor of that name. We want to do the same thing, but feminize it a bit by having it as "Kay." A little tribute to Grandma P. without giving the baby the name Genevieve (there was no way.) The other option (for me, at least) is Ella for a middle name after my maternal grandmother, LuElla (just Ella, no Lu.) We will see, but the boys all love the name Sydney Kay. Derek refers to the baby by both names and Austin says, Baby Sydney so cute, I can't stand it. It sounds like Bebe Simee. Plus, Matt loathes all the names I love and visa versa. When I thought of Sydney, he loved it immediately. We will see. I have to see what she looks like before I decide absolutely.
