Glad it wasn't me....

So...pretty much I am married to superman. Why, you ask ? Last night after a very hectic and busy weekend, I had fallen asleep on the couch while watching a movie with Zacky. Matt was upstairs on the computer and Derek was also upstairs playing. Austin was asleep. (Just setting the stage here.) All of the sudden I hear a quiet "Laur? Do you know where the wipes are?" No screams for help, crying, etc. So I assume everything is fine. The wipes were on the floor by my feet so I handed them to Zack and he took them up to Matt and I started to go back to sleep. Matt came down and proceeded to tell me the horrific events as they unfolded upstairs. He had been sitting at his desk when Derek came up saying, "Dad, yucky, dad...help." Matt looked over and sees Derek holding up both hands which are completely covered in poop to the wrist. Ew. Does Matt freak out? Not at all. He just calmly went and washed Derek's hands and proceeds to change the most horrific diaper of all time. No complaining, pleas for help or anything. He stuck all Derek's poopy clothes in the laundry and came down, exhausted to sit on the couch by me. He finishes telling me the story and all the sudden looks down and sees poop all over his own shirt. A lesser man would have cried at this point. But not Matt. He peeled off that shirt so fast and the shorts too, just in case, and got some clean clothes. My hero! He really is a super amazing dad and husband and this is in his honor:

The Husband Tag

*How long have you been together? Met in May 2000, Married January 2001.

*How long did you date? Dated 4 months, engaged 3 1/2

*How old is he? A Super Studly 30

*Who eats more? It depends, usually him unless I am pregnant, then it is always me.

*Who said "I love you first?" Matt did and I thought I was really funny because I just said "thank you." He looked kind of devastated and I started laughing and told him I loved him too.

*Who is taller? Matt is by maybe an inch.

*Who sings better? That would be me. All though just because he is not the best singer, doesn't mean he doesn't sing. He sings to our kids all the time, which I think is adorable.

*Who is smarter? Matt, positively, but I have a way better memory and I am a better speller.

*Who does the laundry? Me.

*Who does the dishes? Mostly me, although Matt is really good at surprising me with a clean kitchen when I have had a long day, he almost always does them when I am pregnant.

*Who cleans the bathrooms? Me, always.

*Who does the vacuuming? Both. Matt always does the stairs and any other time vacuuming is needed.

*Who does the ironing? Always me. I am not sure if Matt is aware that we own an iron. I am actually pretty much an ironing freak.

*Who makes the bed? Mostly me, Matt, once in a while.

*Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Matt

*Who pays the bills? I always used to until we switched to automatic bill pay!

*Who cooks dinner? Always me, although Matt makes breakfast fairly often.

*Who is more stubborn? Definitely Matthew.

*Who kissed who first? Matt kissed me in my parents backyard in my brother's swing set fort.

*Who is more sensitive? Me, of course.

*Who has more friends? Probably me, mostly because I will talk to anyone under the sun and Matt is more reserved.

*Who asked who out first? Matt asked me out the day we met. Pretty much love at first sight for both of us.

*Who proposed? Matt did. At Sundance, it was a huge surprise, considering we hadn't even talked about marriage. But I knew I was going to marry him really early on so it was all good. He did this whole long lead up to it but the jist of it was, "You are my dream girl, will you marry me?" I, of course, said yes immediately. Then I actually noticed the ring and almost passed out. It was perfect.

Matthew John Sorensen is the man. Totally living up to the "hot guy list" reputation. If anyone has any questions regarding the "hot guy list," feel free to comment.

Tauna: the hot guy list comes from a girl Tara met in your neighborhood a few months ago. She was talking to TAra and was flabbergasted to discover that Tara was married to Brad Poll and that he was her new neighbor! She had gone to high school with him, didn't really know him, just admired him from afar. :) Tara went on to ask if she knew Matt since he went to that high school too. The girl said, How do you know Matt Sorensen? Tara said, He is my bro-in-law. The girl went on to say, wow, he was on our Hot List. We have been teasing him about that for months. Just so you know, this has happened before with my/Tara's hairdresser. She was also went to high school with Matt and Brad and not knowing that I was married to Matt made a comment to TAra about him being so good-looking and how she always had a crush on him. Tara was like...uh he's my brother-in-law. Poor haridresser was a tad embarrased. We thought it was pretty funny. But he is dang good-looking :)

When I was going to Ricks, I met a guy in my field biology on horseback class (yes, that is a real class :)) and we got to talking and I found out he served his mission in Brisbane, Australia. So I asked him if he knew Matt (he was still on his mission) and he said he did. The other guys referred to him as the, 'pretty boy.' Ha, ha. Matt didn't like that much when I told him about it. He is definitely good looking, both inside and out. You two make such a beautiful couple...and beautiful kids :). I always smiled because both you and your sister married cousins. Small world eh? I think I'm remembering correctly that Matt is related to the Polls too.

Ha hahaa, The "pretty boy", that is hilarious. You are right, Matt and Brad are 2nd cousins. Their Grandmas are sisters. It is fun because our kids are related two ways! And field biology on horseback!?!? Awesome.

Its not so impressive that he cleaned up the poopy mess by himself, but that he did it all without freaking out, making loud dry-heaving sounds, or calling for back-up. Awesome!!

Isn't it so great to have such an awesome hubby? I feel so blessed that I married Ethan every day (especially days like today when he's out of town). We had a similar experience this week with throw up rather than poop... I slept peacefully on the couch while he took care of it.

Wow, I'm impressed. The way you describe it, I'd probably be pulling out the protective gear before heading into the war zone. He sounds like a keeper. You should definitely keep him. :)
